Game Gym Announces 2023 Spring Summit Benefiting Children’s National Hospital

The annual event will raise money for video game research through the Extra Life Foundation and will be held live at Shenandoah University

Potomac, MD – March 7, 2023 Game Gym, the DMV-based esports training startup with a uniquely holistic approach to gaming, is announcing the 2023 Spring Summit fundraiser to benefit Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. The two-day event, running from April 22-23, will raise money to fund research for using video games to assist in rehabilitation programs for children.

The 2023 Spring Summit serves as a celebration of esports for kids, parents, and gamers of all ages. This year’s competition will include the end-of-season Mid-Atlantic Esports Conference (MAEC) championship tournaments, with all 13 member schools competing for the crown in League of Legends, Overwatch 2, Valorant, and Rocket League.

The league champions in League of Legends will get an automatic bid to the national conference tournament, and the league champions in Rocket League and Overwatch 2 will receive automatic bids to the CECC tournament, to be held live at the Arlington, TX Esports Stadium.

The event will also include pre-recorded and live interviews with various esports stakeholders from the DC area. The event will be held live at Shenandoah University and streamed live on Twitch.

“As one of the founding members of the MAEC, we are proud to host the Spring Summit 2023, same as we did for the Winter Games 2022 in December,” said Joey Gawrysiak, Director of Esports at Shenandoah University, “It’s a great opportunity for students at all of the MAEC member schools to gain valuable event and tournament management experience, it’s a perfect end to our MAEC spring season, and it’s all for a good cause!”

“We are grateful for Shenandoah’s support of the MAEC and our fundraising events,” said Josh Hafkin, Founder and CEO of Game Gym. “The Winter Games was a phenomenal success, and we expect the Spring Summit to be bigger and better!”

Since 2020, Game Gym has operated annual fundraising events, including the Spring Summit and the Winter Games. To date, these events have raised more than $36,000 for Children’s National Hospital. Donate to Children’s National Hospital through the Extra Life Foundation.
