The annual Winter Games event will feature education, entertainment, & competition to raise money for video game research at Children’s National Hospital in D.C.
Bethesda, MD – Nov 16, 2022 – Game Gym, the DMV-based esports training startup with a uniquely holistic approach to gaming, is announcing the 2022 Winter Games fundraiser to benefit Children’s National Hospital in D.C. The two-day event, running from Dec. 3-4, will raise money to fund research for using video games to assist in rehabilitation programs for children. For the first time ever, the event will be held live at Shenandoah University while also being streamed virtually. Register for free and receive email updates.
The 2022 Winter Games serves as a celebration of esports for kids, parents, and gamers of all ages. This year’s event will feature educational events, entertainment, and competition, all of which will be available for live stream on Twitch.
This year’s competition will include the end-of-season Mid Atlantic Esports Conference (MAEC) championship tournaments, with all 13 member schools competing for the crown in League of Legends, Overwatch, Valorant, and Rocket League. For the first time ever, the semifinal and championship matches for each title will be held live at Shenandoah University and streamed live on Twitch.
In another first, Game Gym is teaming up with Eastern High School in Washington, D.C. to host a satellite high school esports tournament at 10am on December 3. Registration is open now.
The 2022 Game Gym Winter Games are powered by Wizards District Gaming, the Washington Justice, University of Maryland’s Discovery District, Black Dog Venture Partners, Gamer Advantage Eyewear, Koa Sports League, the Coalition of Parents in Esports, HyperX, and MedStar Health.

Since 2020, Game Gym has operated three yearly fundraising events (the Spring Summit, the Summer Bash, and the Winter Games), known as the Triple Crown. To date, these events have raised more than $36,000 for Children’s National Hospital.
