What are the hours of the programs?

CAMP HOURS

Hashtag Arena, Game Gym HQ, George Mason University, Koa Sports and University of North America
9 AM – 3 PM

Congressional
June 13th-18th: 9 AM – 1 PM
August 15th-19th: 9 AM – 4:30 PM

Virtual
11 AM – 4 PM

Does my camper need to attend session 1 as a prerequisite to attend session 2?

No, all camps will be accessible to both beginners and advanced players regardless of the session title. The session title refers to the frequency of weeks in which the game is offered. Campers may begin camp at any week and receive the full camp experience.

Will my child need to bring their own gaming equipment?

In person: No, all gaming equipment will be provided at camp. This includes headsets, keyboards, mice, and controllers. There is no need to bring any equipment. 

Virtual: Yes, your camper will need the required devices and software based on their chosen game. Please refer to the list of required devices here:

Adventure Strategy Games

  • League of Legends = Windows 10, MacOS
  • Java Minecraft = Windows 10, MacOS
  • Rocket League = Windows 10, MacOS, PlayStation 4 or 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

Will lunch be served at camp?

There will be a break for lunch each day, and at most locations, campers are expected to bring a nut-free lunch.

Campers are will need to bring a nut-free lunch.

Hashtag Gaming Arena
Campers are required to purchase the weekly meal plan (details included upon registration). No outside food or drink is allowed. Additional snacks on top of what is offered in the meal plan are available for daily purchase. 

Congressional
Campers have lunch included in the registration through Congressional.

Will you be going outside during the day?

Yes, we will have the opportunity to go outside during free time and lunch. We request that sunscreen is applied to campers each morning before attending camp. You may provide your child with labeled spray sunscreen if you want this reapplied. Please send your camper in closed-toe shoes. 

Does my camper need to bring anything to camp with them?

  1. Campers may bring a backpack or drawstring bag.
  2. Campers are encourage to bring a water bottle with their name written on it.
  3. Campers are encouraged to bring a bottle of sunscreen labeled with their name.

Do you offer early drop off and late pick up?

Yes, parents may purchase before or after care plans via registration. Before care hours are 8am-9am and after care hours are 3pm-6pm. Camps at all locations start at 9am.

What should I do if my child is sick?

Children who are exhibiting signs of illness (fever, diarrhea, vomiting, etc.) should be kept at home.  If the child becomes ill while in our care, the camper will be supervised by the site lead and the child’s guardian will be notified to pick the child up immediately. Campers must be fever free for 24 hours without medication to attend camp. Please email katy@gamegym.com to make us aware your child will not be attending due to an illness if absence is needed.

Lost and Found

Lost Items
Game Gym is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Found items may be held at camp location until the last day of camp. Any remaining lost and found items will be discarded at the end of the camp season.

Covid-19 Related FAQ’s…

Are masks required while at camp?

Yes, all campers and staff will be required to wear masks while indoors. Masks will not be required during any outdoor activities. All camp locations will eat outside depending upon weather.

Does my child need to provide a negative test to attend camp?

At the start of each camp week, every camper and coach is required to provide a negative Covid-19 PCR or Rapid test result taken within the last 24-48 hours prior to the start of camp. Please show this negative result with a date and time stamp to your site lead on Monday morning upon drop off. If your camper is still awaiting Covid-19 results, the Game Gym will supply a rapid test on the first day of camp which parents must stay to supervise.

How does your staff plan to implement social distancing at camp?

Each camper is assigned their own gaming station. We will encourage students to social distance where applicable.

How is your staff keeping the camp venue clean and sanitized this summer?

Our staff have implemented new cleaning procedures to help keep campers safe. All shared surfaces will be disinfected after use and social distancing will be exercised when possible. When arriving at camp, the welcome staff will conduct a temperature check to ensure all community members are healthy.

What should I do if my child is sick?

Parent Survival Guide for in-person camps

Our coaches are very excited to meet your campers!

When getting your camper ready for the day, please use this checklist to ensure your camper has everything they need:

  • A bagged peanut-free lunch (unless registered for a meal plan at Hashtag Arena)
  • Extra snacks (unless registered for a meal plan at Hashtag Arena)
  • Sunscreen (to be pre-applied or packed)
  • A water bottle with their name on it
  • Medication with instructions (as needed)
  • Comfortable attire for walking/light exercise

Location Policies for in-person camps

Game Gym HQ

Campers will continuously be monitored by a Game Gym certified site lead and coaches. Please note Game Gym Headquarters (GGHQ) is an office for some staff members. Camps at GGHQ are sectioned off, but the front space is accessible to staff of GG during camp hours, before-care, and after-care hours. The bathroom is individual, but accessible by both campers and employees.

George Mason University

Campers will continuously be monitored by a Game Gym certified site lead and coaches. Please note George Mason University is an active college campus. Camps at GMU are in 2 classrooms but the student lounge is accessible to staff members of GMU during camp hours, before-care, and after-care. Bathrooms are accessible by campers, students, and employees located in the building.

Hashtag Arena

Campers will continuously be monitored by a Game Gym certified site lead and coaches. Please note Hashtag Gaming Arena (HGA) is an active business. Camps at HGA are sectioned off but the storefront is accessible to customers of HGA during camp hours, before-care, and after-care hours. Bathrooms are individual but accessible by campers, customers, and employees.

Koa Sports

Campers will continuously be monitored by a Game Gym certified site lead and coaches. Please note Koa Sports is an active office. Camps at Koa are in a conference room, but the office is accessible to staff members of Koa during camp hours, before-care, and after-care. Bathrooms are accessible by campers and employees located in the office building. Outside space on the Rio Lakefront is also accessible to the public.

University of North America

Campers will continuously be monitored by a Game Gym certified site lead and coaches. Please note University of North America (UoNA) is an active college campus. Camps at UoNA are on a separate floor accessible only by a key-fob elevator for most of the day, but the floor is accessible to staff members of UoNA during camp hours, before-care, and after-care. Bathrooms are accessible by campers and employees located in the building.
